got a notice from a billing agency for a hospital near Denver,Colorado. The
hospital wanted payment for surgery totaling $41,188. Ryan had never set foot in
that hospital. Obviously there was some mistake. “I thought it was a joke,”says
Ryan. But when he called the billing agency,nobody

number,had indeed been admitted for surgery. He figured clearing this up would

teachers believe that the responsibility for learning lies with the students. If
a long reading assignment is given,instructors expect students to be familiar
with the information in the reading even if they do not discuss it in class or
give an examination. (Courses are not designed merely for students to pass
exams). The ideal student is considered to be one who is motivated to learn for
