A Proposal of Removing Telephone

I would like to urge that the university remove telephones from students’ on-campus housing. There are many considerations that make this a good idea. First of all, almost everyone has a cellphone. This means most standard phones are never used anyhow. A second reason is that if the unused phones are taken out of students’ rooms, the students can save money by not having to pay phone bills. So since the phones are useless and cost money, let’s use some common sense and get rid of them.
Question: The woman expresses her opinion toward the proposal of removing telephones from the students’ dorm rooms. State her opinion and explain the reasons she gives for holding that opinion.
Now hear a conversation between two students.

A Proposal from a Student

I would like to suggest that the University of California, Riverside make swimming a required course for all present and incoming students. This advice is prompted by three reflections. To begin with, college is one of the most stressful times of life for most people. Swimming is an ideal stress-reducing activity. Older swimmers often display a significant decrease in high blood pressure. Another benefit is that swimming is perhaps the ideal exercise, giving a workout to every muscle group. Lastly, students who are relaxed and in good physical condition will increase their study efficiency.
Question: The woman expresses her opinion about the proposal given by a student suggesting making swimming class a required course at the university. State her opinion and explain the reasons she gives for holding that opinion.
Now hear a conversation between two students.

A Proposal from a Student

I would like to propose that the university make available to incoming freshmen their future roommate’s contact information (e-mail, phone, etc.) Doing this will afford students a couple of considerable benefits. The first of these is that it will serve as a sort of "ice-breaker." Contacting future roommates before the beginning of school will enable students to get along with each other earlier and have at least one friend on campus when they arrive. Another very large benefit is that knowing each other allows for more efficient planning of life together. Dorm rooms are small, so planning together avoids wasting space and reduplicating each other’s efforts. Students can avoid bringing the same appliances, for example.
Question: The woman expresses her opinion about the proposal to offer contact information to incoming students living in school dormitories. State her opinion and explain the reasons she gives

Today I would like to tell you about the effects of old age on health. Actually today a lot of improvements have taken place in the care of old people and old people’s health is not nearly so bad as it used to be.
Probably many of the fears that people have of growing old are greatly exaggerated(夸大). Most people, for example, dread becoming senile. But in fact very few people become senile Perhaps only about 15% of those over 65 become senile. Actually much more common is in fact caused by doctors ourselves. And that is over-medication. Nearly 80% of people over 65 have at least one serious illness, such as high blood pressure, heating difficulty or heart disease And very often to combat these they take a number of drugs and of course sometimes there are interactions among those drugs. And this can cause a lot of complications from mental confusions, very commonly, to disturbance of the heart rhythrn(节奏). So this is a problem that doctors have to watch out fo
