Marriage Linked With Better Sleep

Marriage may improve your sleep, and better sleep may improve your marriage, two new studies suggest.
Women who are married or who have stable partners appear to sleep better than women who have never married or lost a panner, according to research from an eight - year study presented at the Associated Professional Sleep Societies annual meeting. They also found that marital (婚姻的)happiness lowers the risk of sleep problems, while marital conflict heightens the risk.
Although married women overall slept more soundly than unmarried women, the researchers, from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, did identify a "newlywed" effect. Physical activity may help students do better in their classes. The research comes as educators in some countries are reducing time for activities like physical education. They are using the time instead for academic subjects like math and reading.
Researchers at VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam reviewed the results of fourteen studies. Twelve were from the United States, one from Canada and one from South Africa. The studies appeared between nineteen ninety- seven and two thousand and nine. They included more than fifty-five thousand children, aged six to eighteen.
Researcher Amika Singh says the studies showed a link between physical activity and scores on subjects such as math, English and reading, and concluded that being physically active is beneficial for academic performance.

Tourism from Europe, Australia, and the United States has rebounded since the disaster. But tourist arrivals from elsewhere in Asia have plummeted (垂直落下) since the tsunami and have yet to bounce back.

The tsunami claimed more than 215,000 lives in 11 countries around the Indian Ocean and left another 50,000 people unaccounted for. Buddhism and other Asian belief systems hold that if bodies are not recovered and properly buried, their spirits restlessly wander the Earth. Many Asians believe that lost souls try to drag living beings into a spiritual limbo (地狱的边缘).
On Thailand’s southwestern coast more than 5,300 people died and 2,900 more went missing when the tsunami swept ashor
